- Process bibliographic information to generate LCSH recommendations.
- Send image data to the Gemini API for analysis (when you upload images).
- Compare suggested terms with the Library of Congress database for validation.
- Generate MARC records for validated terms.
- Save your session history locally for your future reference.
- Store your Gemini API key locally for convenience between sessions.
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Local Storage
- All user data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage API.
- Your Gemini API key and conversation history are saved only on your device.
- No data is transmitted to our servers or any third parties except as described below.
4.2 Third-Party Services
- Google Gemini API: When you use the Extension, bibliographic information and any uploaded images are sent to Google’s Gemini API for processing. This transmission is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Library of Congress (id.loc.gov): The Extension sends queries to the Library of Congress database to validate suggested terms. No personal information is included in these queries.
4.3 Security Measures
- We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data within the Extension.
- Your Gemini API key is stored securely in your browser’s local storage.
- All communications with external APIs use secure HTTPS connections.

You have full control over your data:
- You can clear your conversation history at any time through the Extension’s management options.
- You can remove your Gemini API key from storage.
